Cold February days..

Make me grumpy too.

But then we go home, and pretend to "plant a garden."

"What's mommy going to plant in the garden?" Jordan asked.

Hmm... it's a little early for me to start planning this, but I was thinking I'd try tomatoes this year. We had such success with the basil, parsley and oregano last summer, I'm feeling pretty confident about branching out from the herbs. Tomato and basil salad with a splash of olive oil, kosher salt, and basalmic. I can't wait for summer. Although the farmers' markets around here have such amazing tomatoes in the summer, it seems silly to spend my time trying to grow my own. But, in my humble opinion, everyone needs a little bit of silliness in their lives.

Day dreaming over. Time to round the monkeys up for nap. Whereupon I discover them hiding, with their respective cuddlies, in the closet. Nice try kiddos. Off to bed.

It's not too early to plan for tomatoes if you want to start them from seed. You can pick out which kind you want and plant them within the next couple of weeks. They'll be hearty little plants and ready to plant by the time it warms up. Looks like it might be a fun project for your little ones too. :-) Or just skip all the hassle and buy starters in May--LOL. Julie

M -

you know, I thought about this, after hearing a segment about preparing your garden on the radio. I'm kind of thinking of going the easy route and just buying starters. I'm pretty new to the gardening game, and I want to ease into the whole thing. Of course, being me, I have grand visions of one day poring over garden catalogues and purchasing seeds of rare heirloom tomatoes to plant all by myself.

We shall see.

F - awesome! Glad you ran with the tag!
